WELCOME TO MURPHY IRISH DANCERS - 2010

The Murphy School is based in San Francisco and the Peninsula. We teach traditional Irish Dancing both in the soft and hard shoes. Children learn their four basic soft shoe dances first, followed by ceili (pronounced kay-lee which is group dancing). After fully understanding the basics of the soft shoe material, they are taught their hard shoe dances. At home practice is key to moving forward. All our teachers are registered with the Irish Dancing Commission in Dublin, Ireland, The North American Dancing Association and The Western Region Irish Dancing Association.

Our students include Regional, National, All Ireland and World Champions. Our dancers (all levels) perform in shows both amateur and professional.

We want the children to develop self esteem, learn an intricate dance form, make great friends and most importantly... have FUN! We want the students to enjoy coming to class and doing performances. They can also compete in Feis' (pronounced Fesh), both in the solo and ceili categories. The one thing that has made Irish Dancing what it is today, is the fact that the children compete from the very beginning. There is a category for every dancer - from beginner to championship. However, these competitions are optional.

Beginner classes are starting now! All girls and boys are welcome, ages 4 years and over. Please contact Mary Jo Feeney for class times at 415/587-7133.
